I fancy a threesome

If you support Tottenham Hotspur and you've not got a spring in your step then you're doing it all wrong. Bounce, don't denounce. Yes, we are the long standing tenants of the land of the broken hearted. Yes, we're the definitive nearly men that occasionally puncture the upper echelons and win a cup or push the more experienced seasoned veterans right down to the wire. Are you going to let the past hold you back? Are you going to fear the future because of what might be repeated? If the Spurs team, led by Mauricio Pochettino, is working to alter the perception and identity of our football club and how we apply ourselves then it's only fair we reciprocate.
Regardless of what happens on Wednesday and beyond, regardless of whether we finish 4th or 3rd or (easy now) higher - Tottenham are shaping up with substance rather than the sugary highs of superficiality that often saw us buzz and crash. What am I talking about? Here's a snapshot of organic richness.
Dele Alli.
New contract, signed until 2021. You're going to jerk those knees no doubt and proclaim all this does is protect the club on a financial level so that any future bid will be costly for those eager to steal in and capture our midfield wonder. History should make us mindful. Consider the obvious: Alli isn't the finished article. He's young, raw but also focused and determined. In the next five years he has to mature into the player we expect him to become. That's some journey to undertake. Is there anything more exciting than a young talent developing and progressing from kid to beast?
Actually yes.
Harry Kane.
If there is something that's even more heart pounding than a young player reaching for the stars it's an Academy bred player that's already riding on the back of a comet. Kane is smashing it. 50 goals and the counting is unlikely to stop any time soon. The last striker we splashed out on failed to get anywhere near igniting and along comes Kane, a majestic accidental miracle. It's like the footballing Gods granted him a single wish, "Here's a blank script, tells us how you want your career to kick start".
Let's not forget about Eric Dier.
From centre-back to central dynamo. When we lusted after an experienced £25M defensive midfielder and Pochettino just chilled and slotted in Dier, we all shifted uncomfortably. Now, it's the opposition that shifts uncomfortably watching him bully and boss the midfield.
All three are perfect symbols of this new generation of Spurs - a team unified and driven to be a singularity rather than a fragmented mess of marquee signings and old guard mixed in with fringe players and deadwood.
What gives me that excitable spring and skip is that these players have exceeded all expectation. Much like Tottenham the team has. The talent was there but the opportunity and self belief has cemented their place. The more experienced players in the squad help to give us balance yet all seem to measure up the same when it comes to wearing the shirt with pride.
Emotive nonsense? Or simply a team I can finally say I love without lying to myself.
