Not happening

Europa League this evening. Will someone please think of all the travelling Spurs fans?

There's no Younes Kaboul (knee knock). He hasn't travelled but might be fit for Sunday's game against Southampton. Others that stayed back at home: Emmanuel Adebayor has a brace (hamstring & heel), Paulinho (calf) and Kyle Walker (pelvis).

Jan Vertonghen is suspended. Vlad Chiriches (been out for a while now), Michael Dawson, Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela are injured/recovering from injuries.

If you're wondering who has joined the away support out in Lisbon say hello to the squad:

Friedel, Archer, McGee, Naughton, A McQueen, Fryers, Rose, Ball, Ogilvie, Sandro, Chadli, Veljkovic, Eriksen, Winks, Sigurdsson, Bentaleb, Onomah, Lennon, Townsend, Kane, Soldado

Eight youngsters. This might get messy.

Tim Sherwood has reference the blatantly obvious that this is going to be a difficult (impossible) task but '...we owe it the fans who have travelled here and those watching on TV to do ourselves justice'.

We'd need to side step into the Twilight Zone to stand any chance of pulling this game back into our favour. I'm not watching with any expectations but very curious to see if we sit deep and defend with damage limitation in mind or whether we actually look to just attack and to hell with it all as long as we give a good positive account of ourselves. Considering we failed to do that in the first leg when we fielded a stronger side and the fact the Twilight Zone is a television series and not an accessible dimension - we're screwed.

Good luck to all. Hope the supporters that travelled are plentiful drunk.

Elsewhere Sherwood also answered questions aimed at the continued van Gaal rumours.

"He's obviously destined to want to manage in England. He's got good track record and good manager. I'm sure he'll get opportunity, he's been shouting loud enough for it. My future's out of my hands. I believe I'll be here next year. I'm planning for next season. The players are playing for their futures.”

The fact that Sherwood keeps repeating the 'I'll still be here' soundbite with no public echo of support from the chairman suggests he won't be. Seems determined enough but arguably there's more chance of Daniel Levy retaining his services as first team coach as there is Tottenham scoring three goals tonight.
